Media Coverage of Cultural and Artistic Issues in News Bulletins
Media plays a fundamental role in expressing the nature of the Lebanese cultural and artistic movement with its diverse faces, and keeping abreast of this movement and the changes that occur in it throughout its long history.
Based on the above, this study raises questions related to media and its contribution to covering the cultural and artistic issues, from the point of view of news Bulletins and its importance in addressing the anticipated audience of the various political, social, economic, cultural and artistic aspects.
These problems related to news coverage revolve around the following questions:
- Do media allocate space to culture and arts as well as other raised issues?
- Do media deal with the cultural and artistic issues as the main news or is it within variety of entertainment news?
- What are the cultural and artistic topics that attract media the most attracted?
- Do local coverage receive media’s attention when compared to international news?
- Do official institutions dominate cultural and artistic activity through media coverage or is there a marginal role for individual initiatives and private institutions?
