Maharat Raises Journalists’ challenges in Geneva
Maharat Foundation organized a side event entitled “Challenges faced by journalists in the MENA region” during the 41st session of the Human Right Council in Geneva
The session highlighted the arising challenges faced by journalists in the Arab World and the increased violations especially after the Arab revolutions.
Maharat along with Gulf Center for Human Rights, MADA- Palestine, Arabic Network for Human Rights Information- Egypt, and Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, and UNESCO highlighted the violations faced by journalists in the MENA region to raise the voice for the united nations and the Human Rights Council to put pressures on governments in the Arab region to give more freedom for media and journalists and to free all those imprisoned for expressing their opinion and to ensure freedom of expression through the laws.
