Citizen’s Assessment of the role of media in Lebanon, a study conducted by Maharat in cooperation with IREX. The study aims at:
- Putting indicators to assess and evaluate the role of media in Lebanon from the citizens’ point of view
- To assess the ability of Lebanese media to be a platform for the citizens and to cover their issues in an unbiased way.
The Lebanese media institutions scored 1,18 over 4. The result of the study shows that the Lebanese media is biased despite the attempts to show a variety of point of views, it is considered as politically affiliated. In addition there is a lack of neutral media institutions thus the citizens have to see the news bulletin on more than one institution in order to know what is going on. Moreover, it was also concluded that media institutions covers social issues to show that the politicians from the opposite side are not doing their job.
